Seamus Heaney Homeplace
On Tuesday 4th April our P4/5 and P6/7 classes visited the 'Seamus Heaney Homeplace' in Bellaghy. The children had the opportunity to explore the exhibition which showcased photos of Seamus Heaney at various stages of his life as well as lots of interesting information about Heaney's interests. The children were fascinated to learn that Seamus Heaney got inspiration for his poetry from the ordinary, everyday things he saw around him.
During the writing workshops the children used the poem 'Blackbery Picking' as a springboard to creating their own poems. Afterwards, they got a chance to share their poems with their peers in the 'Helicon' theatre.
The children really enjoyed this trip and it was a lovely chance for them to express their imagination and creativity.
