Mr Jim Diamond visits our school
Today Mr Jim Diamond, Annie and Daniel's granda, visited the P4/5 class to share stories and memories of life in Moneyneena and the wider Ballinascreen area in the past. Jim told the children about his memories of the Draperstown sheep sales when he was a boy. He also spoke about the 'big snow' of 1963 when his family were 'snowed in' for 3 weeks. Jim talked to the children about the importance of céilíng when he was young and he suggested that the decline of this tradition coincided with people getting televisions in their homes. The children gained lots of new information for their topic and we would like to thank Jim for his patience and time.
