🙏⛪️ Celebrating Catholic Schools Week and Grandparents Day 2025 ⛪️ 🙏
28th Jan 2025
We have had a wonderful week celebrating Catholic Schools Week. The celebrations actually began last Thursday when we tuned in to the Opening Mass in St Eugene’s Cathedral with Bishop Donal McKeown. Four of our P.7s were lucky enough to attend this with Mr Diamond and we were delighted to spot them bringing up the gifts in the Offertory Procession!
Our special celebrations continued through the week, where we took part in lots of special activities to recognise our Catholic faith, all linked to this year’s theme of “Alive in Christ”, focusing on living our lives to the fullest and developing our gifts and talents. We enjoyed working collaboratively to find more about our community in Christ, the Parish of Ballinascreen, and presented our learnings to the class.
Thursday was a particularly special day as it was a tribute to our wonderful grandparents. During the week we discussed all the great things our grandparents do for us, and decided to write letters to them to express our gratitude for their never-ending love and kindness. We presented these and “Certificates of Appreciation” to the grannies and grandas who were able to visit us in school, and they then had a beautiful dinner prepared by our Supercook Eileen and her team of Wonder Women!
We prayed for our grandparents who love us and care for us in so many ways, and we prayed in special way for those grandparents who were not able to come. Of course, we remembered and prayed especially for our grandparents in heaven, and created a beautiful space of remembrance for them. The influence of our grandparents, both here and from above, can never be underestimated ❤️🙏🕯️❤️.
To conclude this very special week, some of our class were awarded certificates for embodying the values and spirit of our Catholic school every single week of the year!
