Celebrating Childrenโ€™s Mental Health Week 2024 ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ”Š

9th Feb 2024

We have had a wonderful week in Primary 5 & 6 celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week. This week, the theme is “My Voice Matters”.  We started the week with a wonderful online assembly from 52 Lives School of Kindness, and highlighted things that matter to us, things we are grateful for, and things we can do to help our mental health.

We learned that our voices are important and that everyone deserves to be listened to and have a say. Each and every one of us have feelings, thoughts and dreams that are unique and special. Children’s Mental Health Week is a special week to celebrate these and highlight how to speak out if we need to. Some other activities this week included exploring C2K Newsdesk, devising our our “Feelgood Songs” playlist, practising gratitude and learning mindful eating with a few little treats!

Our week concluded with an amazing online art lesson from the wonderfully talented Sinead McDermott, where we created beautiful landscape paintings inspired by Claude Monet’s “Path in the Wheatfields at Pourville”. Sinead also took time to teach us about self-care and the importance of taking the time to appreciate and enjoy our idyllic surroundings - this was very apt as Sinead herself is originally from just over the mountain in Feeny!

Thank you Sinead for the uplifting and engaging lesson to draw Children's Mental Health Week to a close, as well as empowering our children to be “real” artists! ๐Ÿง‘‍๐ŸŽจ ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ
